How FreeCell Works

  • 8 tableau piles with all cards visible
  • 4 free cells for temporary card storage
  • 4 foundation piles to build A through K by suit
  • Build tableau in descending order, alternating colors

FreeCell Strategy Tips

  1. Keep free cells empty as long as possible
  2. Expose Aces early and move them to foundations
  3. Plan several moves ahead before acting
  4. Empty columns are more valuable than free cells

Win Rate

Almost all FreeCell games (99.999%) are winnable! Only a handful of the 32,000 standard deals are impossible. This makes it perfect for players who want skill-based gameplay.
