Game Overview

Klondike Solitaire (commonly called simply "Solitaire") is a single-player card game using one standard 52-card deck. The objective is to build four foundation piles, one for each suit, in ascending order from Ace to King.

Tableau Rules

• Cards must be placed in descending order (K, Q, J, 10, 9...)
• Colors must alternate (red on black, black on red)
• Multiple cards can be moved as a unit if properly sequenced
• Face-down cards are turned up when exposed

Foundation Rules

• Each foundation starts with an Ace
• Build in ascending order by suit (A, 2, 3... K)
• Cards can be moved back to tableau (optional rule)

Empty Space Rules

• Only Kings may be placed in empty tableau spaces
• A King with its sequence can fill an empty column

Stock Pile Rules

• Draw 1: Turn one card at a time (easier)
• Draw 3: Turn three cards, play only the top (harder)
• Cycle through stock unlimited times (standard) or limited (Vegas)

Winning Conditions

The game is won when all 52 cards have been moved to the four foundation piles, each containing a complete suit from Ace to King.

Scoring Rules (Standard)

• Waste to Tableau: +5 points
• Waste to Foundation: +10 points
• Tableau to Foundation: +10 points
• Foundation to Tableau: -15 points
• Turn over tableau card: +5 points

Variations

• Draw 1 vs Draw 3: Number of cards drawn from stock
• Vegas Scoring: Pay $52, earn $5 per foundation card
• Timed: Bonus points for faster completion
